CaVar holds a B.A. in English and African American Studies from Wesleyan University, and a Ph.D. in American Studies from The University of Michigan. His teaching and research expertise is in African American History, and Gender and Women’s History. He currently serves as the Managing Director of High School and College Programs for Thrive Scholars, a national non-profit that supports BIPOC low-income students in their college and career success. Here he partners with scholars, high schools and universities, corporations, CBOs, and families to equip young people with the preparation needed to thrive in the nation's top colleges and high trajectory careers.
