From: New York
Education: Cecilia is a third-year student majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in History.
How she ended up here: In high school, Cecilia did some work pertaining to the effect of stress on memory and fell in love. When the research lab began to reopen after the pandemic, she found the Tronson lab and reached out to continue pursuing her interest in memory research.
Research interests: Cecilia is interested in sex differences and the effect of stress on memory.
What she’s studied in the past: In the past, Cecilia studied the effect of cannabinoids on stress-induced memories in male and female rats. She observed very different responses (the amount of freezing time) in males compared to female rats after the injection of a cannabinoid agonist.
What she’s studying now: Cecilia continues to study sex differences and the impact of stress on memory-related processes.
Involvements outside of the Tronson lab: Cecilia is involved in Science Learning Community (SLC) as a chemistry tutor and a tutor team lead. She also enjoys volunteering at UM Medicine in the Newborn ICU (NICU).
Hobbies/Fun Facts: Cecilia loves to go on walks, make traveling vlog videos, and play guitar in her free time.
