Esther Kwak, Undergraduate Student

From: Dublin, OH

Education: Esther is a third-year student in the college of Literature, Science, and the Arts. She is majoring in Biology, Health, and Society (BHS).

How she ended up here: Esther joined the Tronson lab through a summer Mcubed program before her sophomore year.

Research interests: Esther is interested in all things relating to animal behavior.

What she’s studied in the past: Prior to joining the Tronson lab, Esther studied white-faced Capuchin monkeys and fluctuations in their hormone levels in response to El Niño. When she first joined the Tronson lab, she worked on a project analyzing escape from X-inactivation in sexually dimorphic behavior.

What she’s studying now: Currently, Esther is helping with various projects around the lab, and she’s often handling mice for various behavioral tests.

Involvements outside of the Tronson lab: Esther is part of the Michigan Pre-Vet club. She also volunteers at a local animal shelter and works at an animal hospital near her hometown.

Hobbies/Fun Facts: Esther loves trying new foods, listening to music, and watching movies.
