Zaynab Mahmood

Zaynab Mahmood began her position in 2015 as a research assistant during her sophomore year of undergrad. Zaynab reviewed and systematically coded the annual security reports, sexual misconduct policies, and student handbooks of universities across the United States. Further, Zaynab co-presented the findings from research done in the Fall of 2015 and co-presented with graduate student supervisors to deliver training to incoming research members. Zaynab’s experience with the research project and team nurtured her interest in social science research, particularly in qualitative research design and methodologies. Through experiential learning, Zaynab was exposed to the multiple phases of research and to the importance of collaboration. Presently, Zaynab is completing a Master’s at the University of Chicago. She plans to continue her academic training in an Anthropology doctoral program to investigate the cultural implications of colonial-legal rationale and how these cultural transformations affect decolonial efforts and practices in Pakistan.
