This database includes three ways to browse the compiled teaching resources: by author names, by general themes, and by course level. See the drop down menu above to select a level and browse.
The lesson plans are currently categorized as either for a 200-level, or second year, course or for a 300- or 400-level, or third or fourth year, course. These levels are based on the University of Michigan’s German department, where the 200-level typically indicate topic based language-courses and 300-and 400-level courses are more discussion based content-courses. Accordingly, the 200-level courses in this database anticipate a lower level of German-language skills, while the 300- and 400-levels expect a higher caliber of linguistic ability and lead to deeper engagement with the texts. All lessons, however, could be adapted to teach at multiple levels.
These teaching resources may act as a starting point for instructors to engage with these materials showcasing the perspectives and voices of groups and individuals underrepresented in terms of gender, sexuality, race, and migration status.
