Karl-PhotoNewWelcome! I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of Michigan. I study American politics with an emphasis on public opinion and political behavior.

My research interests include political psychology and decision making, political communication and the media, racial politics and the influence of candidate traits on stereotyping, and measurement accuracy with regard to political attitudes and emotion.  My dissertation examines the role of political sophistication in determining emotional and behavioral responses to political advertisements.
