Harry B. Harris Jr. (1956 – )

Diplomat and former U.S. Navy Officer

Harry B. Harris Jr. is an American diplomat and former US navy officer. He was born in Japan but grew up in Tennessee and Florida. 

Harris Jr. was the first Japanese American to lead the U.S. Pacific Command in the Navy and was the highest-ranking Japanese American in the U.S. Navy. 

Harris Jr. was the 23rd United States Ambassador to South Korea serving from July 25, 2018, to January 20, 2021, and was the Commander of the United States Indo-Pacific Command from May 27, 2015, to May 30, 2018.
