Apr 4: A Day in the Life at Merck (Friday, April 15, 2016)

An upcoming CALC|UM seminar featuring Merck chemists, Dani Schultz and Jameson Bothe, should be very informative for any individual interested in an
industry career trajectory. Personal testimonials of the decision for an industry career as well as information on their first year working in industry will be covered.

Title: A Day in the Life at Merck for a First Year Chemist: How and Why Two Michigan Grads Choose a Career in Industry

Two recent Michigan chemistry grad, who just started their careers, will discuss their journey from Michigan to Merck. Dani (process chemistry) and Jameson (analytical chemistry) will share a day in the life of a new scientist in their respective departments. In addition, Dani and Jameson will cover their personal perspective on applying and interviewing for jobs, tips for preparing for a career in industry, and what industrial research is like. Lastly, there will be an open Q & A session and opportunities for resume review and discussion.

There will be a free informal breakfast from 9-10:30AM on April 15 (room CHEM 2404), as well as an open Q&A session immediately following the seminar from 1-2PM (room CHEM 1706) that everyone is welcome to attend. If interested, Dani and Jameson are very generous and willing to conduct a CV/resume review session from 2:10PM-4PM (room TBA).
