Week 6 PM: Animal Superheroes

Published Categorized as Camp Explorations

Hi, Camp Families!

We had a super explosive sixth week learning all about animals — from getting to migrate like birds to having an ultimate race to the bottom of the ocean! Enjoy some of the awesome photos we got from this week — including our visit from Leslie Science and Nature Center as well as our trip to the arb!

On Monday, we started off the week by learning about how to classify animals! We got to sort through different types of animals with a classification game, learn more about the environments they exist in with BiomeGo!, and they even got to build their very own habitat diorama and take it home!

On Tuesday, we looked to the skies and learned all about birds! We started by learning about what makes a bird a bird and then we got to try our hand at migration! After that, we learned about bird adaptations and even got to understand how birds communicate using a sound map!

On Wednesday, we were curious about critters in the night — who better to ask than the Leslie Science and Nature Center (LSNC) pros? We got to learn all about nature’s nightlife and even got to make a bat craft of our own! After that, we tested our echolocation skills with a game of Bat and Moth.

On Thursday, we took a deep dive into the animals of the ocean! For the younger campers, we got to make our very own crab. For the older campers, we got to make a shark cootie catcher. After our crafts, we had a race to the bottom of the ocean learning all about deep-sea life and we got a chance to better understand food webs and how they might look underwater.

On Friday, we were absolutely fascinated with the forest! We got to take a trip to the arb, have a nature scavenger hunt, and play some outdoor games!

We hope that your camper(s) had a great week and were excited about all of our activities! If we won’t be seeing you for another session, please have a safe and relaxing rest of your summer!
