Professor Carolyn Anderson from Calvin College gave a seminar for CSEI|UM where she addressed the intricacies of education at PUIs. She covered a wide range of topics including the differences in the job description as a professor at a PUI vs and R1 institution, what the interview process looks like, and her personal story of how she came to a PUI. Carolyn also gave advice on preparing for interviews, and discussed what she finds important for Teaching and Research statements at PUIs. She concluded the seminar with a 45 minute long Q&A, where she addressed questions from the audience, many of which were aimed at how she would prepare for a PUI position differently if she was to do it again, clarifying her presentation, and giving advice on what to expect in the next few years if you pursue a PUI position.
