February 24, 2017: Translating Research for the Public (Session II)

We had an enjoyable meeting with Nichole from the Hands on Museum last Friday.  I know I learned a lot about translating our research to the public.

Now to the fun part.  We get to finish designing and constructing our demos/activities.  I heard about a bunch of great ideas and I am excited to see how these come together.

Our next event is Saturday, March 18th, from 12 pm – 2 pm in CHEM 1706.  Lunch will be provided.  During this session groups will construction/build and then practice their activity for other groups.

A few things need to happen between now and March 18th.
1) We need to know what supplies you need by Thursday, March 9th. We will be order supplies mostly online and CSIEUM will be paying for them.  If you need chemicals we will have to place those orders separately.

2) Additionally, some groups will need to meet again and continue to brainstorm, design, and troubleshoot their ideas before March 9th in order to have a reasonable supply list.  Attached is a list of all the participants in case you
want to contact someone who was a part of your group.  If you need any help with your ideas you can reach out to Nichole or myself, her email is cc’ed above.

Finally, Nichole mentioned some of the events that they do at the Hands on Museum are for  “adults only.”  Information on their next event can be found here… https://www.aahom.org/pint-museum-flashbackfriday
