Cinetopia Film Festival brings 2018 Arab Film Festival to Michigan

CMENAS, DISC, and GISC sponsor screenings in Dearborn and Ann Arbor

The 2018 Arab Film Festival (AFF) at Cinetopia includes a number of feature films and shorts that focus on “marginalized communities and voices, with films focusing on gender, sexuality, identity, social justice, activism, and community building.” The Center for Middle Eastern and North African Studies (CMENAS), Digital Islamic Studies Curriculum (DISC), and the Global Islamic Studies Center (GISC) are all pleased to sponsor Cinetopia and especially AFF.

AFF runs from June 1–10, with films showing at the Arab American National Museum in Dearborn, and the Michigan and State Theaters in Ann Arbor. Film times, details, and tickets are available on the Arab American National Museum website.

With Ramadan occurring during AFF, there will be an Iftar Dinner on Saturday, June 9 at 9:15pm following the screening of Soufra. Tickets for the dinner can be purchased here.
