Science Communication Fellow @ UMMNH

I became involved with the Science Communication Fellows program at the University of Michigan Museum of Natural History in the fall of the 2017.

The program helped me develop and prototype demonstrations and activities about star formation, which I now present at a variety of UMMNH “Scientist Spotlight” events aimed at local families.

I’ve also been lucky to get to the opportunity to present a few public talks at the newly remodeled museum “Scientist in the Forum” venue. My favorite talk to give blends the topic of my own research — star formation — with historical context on how we know what we know, especially as it gives me the chance to highlight the pivotal contributions of women astronomers before me to our understanding of the Galaxy today.
