Welcome to the Matzger Lab!
Our research lies at the interface of several areas, bridging materials chemistry with classic domains including organic synthesis, analytical science, and coordination chemistry. Our interdisciplinary team synthesizes polymers, explosives, and organized assemblies and studies their properties using both experimental and computational approaches. By targeting unique compounds with novel methodologies, we discover and characterize materials with groundbreaking properties. At the heart of our group, we leverage the power of crystallization to influence materials properties, employing concepts in polymorphism, multicomponent crystallization, and the development of porous materials. Individual students develop broad expertise as they dive deeply into synthetic, analytical, or applied work according to their skills and interests.
