Welcome to the MCDB DEI website

The Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB) department at the University of Michigan is committed to provide an inclusive and supportive campus environment for all members of our community, irrespective of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or socio-economic status.

As a department, we strive to explicitly address issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Towards this goal, MCDB has organized a graduate student-led DEI committee . We collectively organize monthly lunches, workshops, and panels to address issues of departmental/campus climate, student retention, and professional development.

Our new website will serve as a hub of resources and communication about DEI related issues and events the committee will be hosting in the MCDB department. We hope you take a look around and we welcome any feedback you may have for us to make this site better for everyone.

MCDB DEI Recommendations

The DEIC has made a document (linked below) that contains the recommendations the DEIC developed during the course of the fall 2020 term with the goal to increase equity, inclusion, and diversity in the MCDB department. These recommendations are the results of discussions, research, and workshops members of the DEIC were involved in both within and outside the U-M.
