Materials in High Temperatures and Extreme Environments
Welcome to the Materials in High Temperatures and Extreme Environments (MiHTEE) Laboratory at the University of Michigan. The research conducted in our lab focuses on several broad areas including advanced manufacturing, innovative moderators, and molten salt loops for both energy and national defense application. The work conducted here will be implemented into the next generation of reactors allowing advancements in the field of nuclear engineering and material science. Transitioning away from fossil fuels toward clean energy sources demands innovation. The MiHTEE lab supports innovative nuclear technologies by recreating harsh environments in the laboratory. By pushing materials to their limits, we can understand the links between material properties and behavior, and enable innovation to reach new frontiers in clean energy technology.
