Welcome to the Beliefs & Decision Making Lab!

When and why do we care about what others believe?

How do beliefs about ourselves and others affect our actions and well-being?

Why do we want to feel understood and explain our feelings and choices to others?

What drives us to seek and disclose information about ourselves?

These are the main questions we study at the Beliefs & Decision Making (BDM) Lab. Our research focuses on various aspects of “belief-based utility”, especially those related to information disclosure and moral behavior. We study the psychological background and the economic consequences of these phenomena, their effects on well-being, and their implications to business and policy.

Our research group is a dynamic and interdisciplinary blend of minds, bringing together people from various fields, including cognitive science, moral psychology, information science, and economics. We delve deep into the complex web of human cognition, investigating how beliefs shape the choices we make. With a strong commitment to bridging the gaps between these disciplines, the BDM Lab strives to unravel the mysteries of human decision-making, shedding light on the multifaceted factors that drive our choices in a rapidly changing world, in which we spend an ever-increasing amount of time consuming information.
