Shelly is also a passionate community activist who advocates for criminal justice reform and the rights of formerly incarcerated people. She was a Justice Fellow with Michigan Liberation, an organization that works to end mass incarceration and racial injustice. She has also taught courses at many rehab facilities in the Metro Detroit Area, hosted round table discussions on reform in impacted communities, volunteered at the Michigan Department of Corrections, won The Emmet Jones Memorial Award 2019, met with lawmakers regularly, helped remove the felony box from Oakland County applications, and was involved in The National Mothers Day Bail Out, a campaign that bails out mothers who are incarcerated for minor offenses.

Shelly Lyons-Mac is a remarkable woman who has turned her life around and is now making a positive impact on the world. She is an example of resilience, courage, and hope for anyone who is facing difficulties or challenges in their lives.
