Hello! I am a Ph.D. candidate in sociology at the University of Michigan. My current research considers how global economic restructuring has influenced local political and economics conditions in authoritarian states to shape workers’ decisions and labor rights. My dissertation examines these issues in the context of Shenzhen, China, and uses several case studies of labor disputes to understand the conditions that influenced workers to use either legal action or bottom-up collective bargaining.
