Rachel teaches, researches, and writes on a wide variety of topics. These include a pro-Cultural Studies polemic disguised as a book review, a co-authored essay on graduate labor organizing, and an op-ed on one unfortunate way Maine politics foreshowed national developments.

She has also published an award-winning article in the Journal of Maine History and a co-authored entry in Bending the Future: Fifty Ideas for the Next Fifty Years of Historic Preservation in the United States.
