The Development of Male-Female Social Relationships in Wild Chimpanzees
In my dissertation research at Ngogo in Kibale National Park, Uganda, I investigate how male-female relationships change for chimpanzees during adolescence. Specifically, I examine how affiliative and aggressive behaviors, including sexual coercion, develop in adolescent male chimpanzees and how these behaviors influence mating and reproduction.
Social Interactions of Young Children and Animals
In a developmental psychology study at the University of Michigan, I am investigating how young children think about animals and form social bonds with them.
Comparative Cognition in Primates
With captive primates at the Duke Lemur Center and the North Carolina Zoo, I conducted experiments to study the influence of diet and sociality on cognitive abilities and how social bonds influence vocal communication.
