Conial C. Caldwell, Jr., a native of Pensacola, Florida, is a current doctoral candidate at Louisiana State University’s School of Social Work. Conial’s research explores the racial socialization practices of Black fathers using the participatory action research method photovoice. Currently, Conial is a Visiting Instructor within the Department of Social Work at the University of South Florida and previously served as the Director of Student Conduct at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Conial seeks to pursue a tenure track position upon completion of doctoral studies with hopes engaging in research that demystifies the absent and inactive Black father troupe, while exploring culturally relevant parenting practices.
