Zeinab Eidy

Hi, my name is Zeinab Eidy and I am a second year transfer student at U-M, intending to major in Public Health while on the pre-medical track. What interested me in this research position is that we’re able to analyze social, cultural, and environmental factors that impact criminology. As an Arab and Muslim woman who immigrated to the United States, looking beyond data and instead at the diverse backgrounds people are brought up in is a way for me to bring in my own perspective and further understand how to support underrepresented communities similar to mine. Outside of school and extracurricular activities, I enjoy reading, watching all genres of movies, and the outdoors.

Albert Hawks Jr.

Research Director: Albert Hawks, Jr. is a researcher at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he is pursuing his PhD. Albert is a fellow with the Weiser Center for Emerging Democracies and holds an M.Div. and S.T.M. from Yale University. His research examines the intersection of morality, aesthetic judgment, and power in popular culture and civil society. A.J. is also a contributing editor for the Journal of the History of Ideas blog.  A.J. is also tall and does not play basketball, sadly.
