[2] Several of the titles in the Gray Collection have publishing dates of 1840–a year after Gray left Europe. It is unclear why this is the case, as Bidlack does not specify in his work. These works may have been sent to U-M after Gray returned to the U.S., as the final “library” collection was not moved to Ann Arbor from Detroit until the spring of 1840.
