Subject: M.S. Program in Physiology at the University of Michigan – Applications are now open!

Our one-year M.S. Program in Physiology is designed for students who wish to earn an M.S. degree and plan, after program completion, to pursue one of the following:

• Application or matriculation to health professional programs such as Medicine, Dentistry, Physician Assistant, or Physical Therapy
• Application or matriculation to a doctoral degree-granting program
• Employment as a research assistant in academia or industry

Students will choose to pursue either:
• An intensive, course-oriented M.S. degree that will prepare the student for the rigors of health professional graduate programs
or
• An intensive, research-oriented M.S. degree, which will permit the student to explore their interest in research while electing graduate-level courses
This intensive program has been designed to allow students to demonstrate their motivation and ability to perform at a high level with a changing workload. Coursework Track students complete the program by the end of June; Research Track students finish as late as mid-August. See the “FAQ” section for further information.
The application cycle for the class of 2022-2023 is currently open and closes on May 15, 2022.
Application Information: All applications are part of the University of Michigan Rackham Graduate School application process. To complete the online application, please go to the Rackham Graduate School website.
All applications require the following:
1) One standardized test score (optional): We employ a holistic application review process, and while a standardized exam score is not required, it adds another data point that might benefit the review of an application.

3) Cumulative GPA Minimum: 3.0 for Coursework Track and 3.5 for Research Track
4) If available, a copy of an AMCAS/AACOMAS/AADSAS GPA calculation page as a PDF
5) Academic Statement of Purpose
6) Personal Statement
7) Three letters of reference: at least two course professors, one must be written by an instructor who taught the student in at least one biology-, chemistry-, or physics-focused lecture and/or laboratory course
8) Curriculum Vitae (CV) which follows our specific format
9) Transcripts from all military, two-, and four-year institutions (unofficial transcripts will suffice for the application review)

Following successful completion of the program, our M.S. Physiology alumni have received acceptances into many health profession programs. Others may take an additional year or more to work, retake standardized exams, and/or focus on applications for medical, dental, or other health-related programs.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Folaké
