Music Education

Recognizing that music education has tremendous influence on my life, I am always looking for ways to share the excitement and benefits that music training can offer.

In the summer before coming to the United States, I led a group of high school students to teach music classes at the Clover Youth Summer Camp for children of migrated rural workers in Guangzhou, China. We taught students how to sing, read music scores, and play musical instruments. We also taught them that music would always be with them in the times of hardship.

In addition, I took two courses on Psychology of Music Learning and Teaching with Professors Marie McCarthy and Carlos Rodriguez at the University of Michigan. For course projects, I conducted literature review on the effects of music training on academic and decision making abilities in children. I hope to do more research on music’s effects on our life in the future.
