Humanities in the World

Advanced humanities training develops exceptional skills in critical thinking, written and oral communication, and rigorous analysis of problems and texts. Employers regularly point to these as some of the most desirable skills in potential employees.

Many of our alumni have pursued careers in settings outside the tenure track. By connecting with and learning from these professionals, faculty mentors and doctoral students preparing for professional careers can expand their horizons and better understand what humanists do with their training beyond academia.

Professionals in industries from business to government to tech can also benefit from learning about  the roles that academically-trained humanists might contribute to their efforts. The resources arrayed here provide those within and outside the academy with examples and narratives of multiple career paths.
