Next week, there will be a number of exciting events taking place at U-M in the areas of art and art history. The first is the residency of artist Orkideh Torabi at the Institute for the Humanities, culminating in the following series:
- Sept 25 — “Women and Revolutionary Art in Iran” panel discussion with Orkideh Torabi, Nahid Siamdoust, Niloofar Sarlati, and moderator Kathryn Babayan, 7pm, Rackham East Conference Room, 915 E. Washington
- Sept 26 — “Blurring Boundaries: A Theatrical Journey Through Cultural Identity,” Special Penny Stamps Lecture by Orkideh Torabi, 5:30pm, Rackham Amphitheatre, 915 E. Washington
- Sept 26 — Orkideh Torabi welcome reception, 6:30pm, Institute for the Humanities, 202 S. Thayer
- Sept 28 — “Orkideh’s Comical Character Parade” lecture by Orkideh Torabi, 6pm, U-M Dearborn Mardigian Library, 4901 Evergreen, Dearborn

The second event is a talk by art historian Rustam Shukurov, entitled Actualizing Cultural Memory: Persia in the Middle and Late Byzantine Tradition, also on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 4pm (so there’s no conflict with the events above!).
