In Flooded Tombs of the Nile (National Geographic/Disney+, 2021), archaeologists at the nearby site of Nuri dive into a flooded pyramid, to search for a king’s burial that could reveal clues about the ancient kingdom of Kush. Note that a subscription to National Geographic/Disiney + is required to access this documentary.
Lost Kingdom of the Black Pharaohs (Science Channel, BBC4/ARTE, 2019) explores ancient Kush as a civilization that rivaled that of Egypt, and focuses on work at multiple archaeological sites, including Jebel Barkal and El-Kurru. Africa’s Great Civilizations (PBS, BBC, 2017), a series by Henry Louis Gates, focuses on Sudan in its first episode, “Origins,” including information about Jebel Barkal.
