Am I Eligible?

To determine your eligibility for the MaCSS Scholars Program, please review the list of questions below:

Year

  • Are you a current U-M student attending your first year of college?

    OR
  • Are you a current or future U-M student who has previously attended a 2-year college, and your first semester at U-M will be either Fall 2023 or Winter 2024?

College/Major

  • Is LSA your home college at U-M? Students belonging to other colleges at U-M, including the College of Engineering, are not eligible for the MaCSS Program.
  • Are you majoring in, or do you intend to major in, Math, Computer Science, Statistics? Computer Science must be through LSA (not through the College of Engineering). Also included in the Computer Science major is the Computation and Cognition track of Cognitive Science. Statistics covers all majors within the department, including Data Science. Note that the Math Teaching major is not included within the scope of eligible MaCSS majors.

Financial

  • Are you “Pell-Eligible”? This means that you are currently eligible to receive Federal Pell Grants through U-M. You can verify your financial aid status by by either (1) checking your financial aid offer letter from U-M to confirm that it includes a Federal Pell Grant, (2) logging into your account at studentaid.gov to verify that you receive that you are receiving a Federal Pell Grant, or (3) similarly using your financial aid information from your current institution, if you are currently attending a two-year college.
