A crosswalk file (unique_bene_xwalk) provides information to link individuals between the Michigan Medicine EHR files and the CMS claims files. The cohort of patients was first identified in Michigan Medicine EHR data and then matched in CMS data via Social Security Number (SSN).
The unique_bene_xwalk file is located in the Claims folder on Turbo, at the bottom of the list.
The image below shows the headings contained on the crosswalk file.
The UNIQUE_ID column corresponds to the PH_ID column in the EHR files.
The Encrypted CCS Beneficiary ID column contains the CMS project identifier for each patient found in the Michigan Medicine cohort. This ID is named Encrypted 723 CCS Beneficiary ID in the CMS files.
The Matched on CCW SSN column indicates the type of matching found for each patient contained in the Michigan Medicine cohort.
0 = No match found
1 = Exact match found
9 = invalid SSN
