CMS Claims-EHR Data and Storage/Computing Overview
This dataset combines the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) data with the health data of Michigan Medicine Medicare patients.  Patients in this cohort are age 65 OR have had at least one Michigan Medicine encounter between 2016 and 2021, where “Medicare” is listed as one of their insurance plan types. There are over 447,00 patients in the cohort.

Data is stored on Turbo, a high speed network storage platform intended for research purposes. Turbo is administered by the University of Michigan Academic Research Computing group and resides within Secure Enclave Services (SES). SES is a private cloud environment that provides high-performance, secure, and flexible computing environments enabling the analysis of sensitive datasets restricted by federal privacy laws, proprietary access agreements, or confidentiality requirements.  SES is administered by the University of Michigan Academic Research Computing group.
