Considerations/Limitations

Data comes from patient history, Problem Summary List (PSL), facility billing and professional billing.

ProceduresComprehensive view includes ICD procedure codes, CPT (coded as CPT4) and HCPCS codes. ICD procedure codes have two versions (ICD9 and ICD10), so it is important to understand how these are different. Use the Lexicon variable to filter on these.

CPT codes are normally 5-digit long, but some CPT codes may have letters or decimal places at the end (this is not the case within the CPT library of codes but seen in the database) so when coding, it may be good to use a regular expression to find these.

For example: A Mammography may be identified in the CPT library of codes as 77065 77066, 77067, but it is also found in the database as 77065NL, 77066NL, 77067NL.

The TermName fields can sometimes contain heavily abbreviated descriptions so it is good to do a search using codes and regular expressions.

These differences can be attributed to the billing source. Procedure records may be duplicated because of the billing source. PB will contain data associated with who provided the service and HB will contain data associated with room/equipment time as well as supplies. Therefore, PB may contain provider data, while HB will not.
