Join us as we celebrate a new season of poetry in the Made in Michigan Writers Series published by Wayne State University Press!
This spring, we bring you Cindy Hunter Morgan’s first full-length poetry collection, Harborless — forty poems that recount Great Lakes shipwrecks through imagination and history. Morgan comes to us from Lansing and is this year’s recipient of the Moveen Prize in Poetry, awarded by Lynch and Sons Fund for the Arts. Accompanying us for the evening will also be renowned Ann Arbor poet Keith Taylor and his latest collection, The Bird-while — short poems that take a close look at small moments in personal history, in art, and in the natural world.

Hailing from Pittsburgh, we also have award-winning poet Jim Daniels with Rowing Inland — a new collection that charts the emotional, political, and economic landscapes of the working-class Metro Detroit community and its residents.

The Moveen Prize is a new award recognizing the early promise, ongoing excellence, and lasting merit in the work of Michigan artists in a variety of genres and pursuits.

Funded by the  Lynch and Sons Fund for the Arts, the prize gifts recipients with an extended residency at the ancestral home of poet and writer, Thomas Lynch in the townland of Moveen, on the Atlantic coast of County Clare, Ireland.

Please RSVP for the event here.
