Dating is hard. Not only because the stakes are high and it’s tough to put yourself out there but also because we know so little about what’s going on. You swipe, scroll, send a message, and hope it lands. But what’s everyone else doing? What’s working? What’s not? The signals we get are vague, inconsistent, and hard to read. A message goes unanswered and you don’t know if it was bad timing, bad luck, or just…you. We’re all navigating in the dark, piecing together stories that are fragments of a bigger picture.
At Revel, we believe in using data to understand the world around us. But that kind of sense-making isn’t just for scientists—everyone is trying to decode signals, spot patterns, and figure out how to get where they need to go. That’s why Revel isn’t built to tell you what to want or who to date. It’s not an algorithm trying to optimize your match. It’s a tool for discovery. Our goal is to help you see the bigger picture, to understand the social terrain you’re moving through, and to find what works for you.
What are insights?
Insights are small, shareable discoveries—nuggets of information that offer a window into what’s happening on Revel. Some are Global: they show you how people across the app present themselves, what kinds of messages they send, and what strategies they use. Others are Personal: they gather the small, easily forgotten traces of your experience—your swipes, your reactions, your replies—and help you reflect on how you’re showing up and what tends to happen next.
Where can I access insights?
Insights have their own tab in the Revel app. Just tap the light bulb in the bottom right-hand corner. To help make sense of the numbers, we situate and summarize each insight’s findings here.
How will you retain my privacy with insights?
We’ve thought a lot about how to share useful feedback while also protecting your privacy. Here’s how we do it.
Global insights are always aggregated. We only report averages—never individual data points. And we don’t show results for groups smaller than 50 people. For example, because we currently have fewer than 50 nonbinary users, we won’t report separate stats for that group.
Individual insights are only shown after you’ve reached a minimum activity threshold. And they’re just for you. No one else sees your personal insights unless you choose to share them.
Can I request future insights?
Absolutely. We cannot promise that we will be able to implement your request, but we will do our best.
