Orie Shafer,

Associate Professor

Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology

Orie received his Ph.D from the University of Washington and conducted post-doctoral research with Dr. Paul Taghert at Washington University in St. Louis.

Swathi Yadlapalli,

Postdoctoral Fellow

HHMI Damon Runyon Cancer Researcher

Swathi completed her M.S. in Computer Science at Yale University and Ph.D in Cell and Developmental Biology with Dr. Yukiko Yamashita at the University of Michigan.

Research interests: Swathi is interested in the neural and molecular mechanisms involved in the entrainment of the circadian clock.

Other interests: Traveling, hiking and spending time with family.

Jenna Persons,

Ph.D. Candidate

Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology

Jenna completed her B.S. in Biology at Newman University and post-baccalaureate research at the University of Kansas.

Research interests: Jenna is interested in the physiological interactions between neurons in the clock network and how they give rise to circadian behavior that adapts to environmental changes.

Other interests: Running, philosophy, music and her two dogs, Ollie and Ex.

Charles Davey,

Research Assistant and Lab Manager

Charles hails from southeast Michigan and completed his B.S. in Biology at EMU.

Research interests: Charles’ research is focused on the circadian control of sleep behavior.

Other interests: Aerial arts, rock climbing and generally “being off the ground.”
