Anya is a junior studying Sociology with a sub-major in Social Work. Born and raised in Lansing, MI, Anya is committed to working with children in underprivileged communities and hopes to continue their education at the University of Michigan with a focus on the effect of inequality on children. Alongside school, Anya also works at the University Musical Society as a Student Leader and has a passion for the performing arts. When not in school or working, Anya enjoys spending time with their family (and their six younger siblings!), finding a new cozy video game, and playing/performing music.

Alanna Grace-Marie is a transfer student from Henry Ford College in Dearborn, Michigan where she achieved her associate’s degree in Liberal Arts: Sociology. She began her studies at the University of Michigan in the fall of 2022 and is currently studying Sociology with a minor in African and Afro-American Studies. She is a visual sociologist and multimedia artist that specializes in Black life, history, and culture. Alanna is passionate about Black history and equitable representation for her communities. Her other interests include mentoring potential transfer students, advocating for the benefits of a plant-based, vegan lifestyle, as well as expressing herself through various forms of art: creative writing, fine arts, dance, and more!

Originally from Houston, Texas, Maggie is a junior at the University of Michigan studying Sociology with a concentration in Social Work. In the future, she hopes to earn her Master of Social Work degree, specializing in Community Change. She is passionate about child advocacy and education equity and she hopes to create programs that benefit kids’ lives in low-income communities, putting her sociology knowledge and research into action. In her free time, Maggie enjoys singing, creating art, and attending/working live performances on campus.

Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Abylene is a Senior studying Sociology with a Minor in Intergroup Relations. Aby enjoys learning more about herself and how the world is interconnected in ways that are overlooked. In her spare time, Aby enjoys taking nature walks and being in tune with nature. Aby’s favorite question is ‘why’, and nothing stops her from discovering deeper truths. When she graduates in the spring, Aby hopes to continue her education but is interested in working with nonprofit organizations who help underserved communities.
