Talks, Reports, etc.

I worked with a group of Michigan researchers to prepare the following report on economic inequality in Washtenaw County: Growing Together, Drifting Apart (March 2015).

My thoughts about Thomas Piketty’s important book, CAPITAL IN THE 21ST CENTURY (2014), are set out in a Review of Thomas Piketty (June 2014).

For my perspective on the ongoing economic crisis and what to do about it, see the following talks: East Lansing, MI (2/18/12) , Detroit, MI (4/19/12) and Ann Arbor, MI (4/23/13).  Subsequently I contributed several posts on U.S. macroeconomic policy to the PERI blog on “Back to Full Employment”, linked to Robert Pollin’s book of the same title.

And here is a statement on why I opposed the “Michigan Civil Rights Initiative,” a proposition placed on the Michigan state ballot in 2006, whose passage ended race-sensitive affirmative action in Michigan public institutions.
