Monday, March 1st: How to Pitch and Publish History for a Wider Public Workshop – The European History Workshop

Monday, March 1st: How to Pitch and Publish History for a Wider Public Workshop

The European History Workshop is holding a remote workshop on March 1st at 4pm to discuss questions and concerns grad students have when deciding how and where to pitch articles (review, op-ed, etc) and how to engage with the broader public and make our work accessible to public audiences. Navigating the publishing market is an important part of academic life, but it remains a topic that is little addressed by much of the graduate curriculum.
In order to help fill this void, the EHW has invited Dr. Henry Cowles to speak with us about how to approach publishing for the wider public. Dr. Cowles has had great success with his public facing pieces and the workshop will consist of a short introduction including key things to keep in mind when trying to pitch an article followed by an open Q&A with Dr. Cowles. Although Dr. Cowles works on Europe, the US, and STS, this workshop is intended to be useful for and open to all subfields.
For an example of Dr. Cowles most recent publication please see his review piece The Machine Stops: Time and its Limits
