Poster Sessions
There will be two poster sessions, each 1 hour taking place in the atrium.
Food & Beverages
Coffee and other hot beverages will be available throughout the day in the atrium. Please help yourself.
Individually packed lunches will be provided to those who registered and filled out the food survey. Lunch can be picked up in the atrium during the poster sessions. Once you’ve picked up your lunch, we ask that you not congregate in the atrium. Please return to your lab break rooms, third floor eating space, or if the weather holds, consider eating outside.
*As a precaution, the committee members distributing food and drinks will wear masks and gloves to avoid spreading infection as well as wiping down beverage cans and water bottles.
Oral Presenters
The oral presentations are broken down into 3 sections, each with 3 talks. We request you stay for the whole session and check in with the moderator 10 min before the session starts.
Please remember all presentation slots are 20 minutes long – 15-minute presentation, 1-2 minutes for a small introduction and screen sharing of your slides, the remainder for questions. Plan accordingly and be advised that all presenters will be judged by industry representatives. Questions will be asked using both the Q&A feature as well as unmuting participants that raise their hand. Once the question session is done, we will return you to an attendee.
Poster Presenters
Poster presenters will be assigned a spot in the atrium, please set up your poster after 9 am (first session) and after 1 pm (second session). We suggest posters be 36″ × 48″, but they can be up to 40″ x 48″.
Judges
Before the start of the poster session you are judging for, head to the Judging Help Desk to check-in. You will receive a rubric for each poster, please return to the Judging Help Desk at the conclusion of the poster session.
You will be using this rubric to judge the presentations.
Poster Judges
You will have 4 assigned posters. Plan to arrive at each presenter’s poster at 10 minute intervals as presenters have been asked to begin their presentations at these times. Try to view all 4 posters before submitting your scores, as you will be asked to rank the posters. If a person scores within the “needs improvement” range of any category, please offer constructive feedback on improving their presentation. Make sure to submit your scores as soon as the poster session is over. Due to issues with availability and scheduling, some people have been asked to judge posters outside of their preferred cluster(s).
Speaker Judges
Student speaker judges should be representative industry members. If you are not, please let us know as soon as possible to give you a new judging assignment. Each oral judge is responsible for judging the 9 student presentations. There will be 3 student talk sessions, each with 3 presentations. To check in, please stop by the Judging Help Desk, letting them know you are present and ready to judge. Please submit your scores at the end of each session.
Backup Judges
If you’ve been selected as a backup judge, please check in at the Judging Help Desk.
If you have any questions or issues, please reach out to the judging committee (karlejudging23@umich.edu)
