Alex is the co-director of Primate Learning in Action. She received an AB in Psychology from Harvard University and and PhD in Evolutionary Anthropology from Duke University. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Psychology & Anthropology at the University of Michigan, where she directs the Cognitive Evolution Group. Her research focuses on the evolution of cognition and behavior across primates.
