Richard received a PhD from Cambridge University and is the Ruth B. Moore Professor of Biological Anthropology at Harvard University. He founded the Kibale Chimpanzee Project in 1987. His research focuses on primate ecology and social behavior, including the role of cooking an warfare in human evolution. Together with Elizabeth Ross, he co-founded the Kasiisi Project and serves as a patron of the Great Apes Survival Partnership (GRASP).
