URAN|UM (pronounced “uranium”) stands for Undergraduate Research and Networking at UMich. The purpose of this graduate student run event is to connect undergraduates in chemistry related departments at or near UMich to Faculty, alumni, and current graduate students at UMich. We aim to enable professional development of these undergraduates, showcase the resources of our department to students from PUIs, and provide a way for students to gain experience presenting research.
All event registrants and University of Michigan affiliated students, postdocs, faculty and staff are welcome to attend the Undergraduate Poster Session July 24th 2025.
Since 2019, ALUM|NUM and URAN|UM take place concurrently. This year, both events occur on Thursday, July 24th, 2025. The festivities include:
• Various professional development activities
• Academic and industrial career panels,
• An undergraduate poster session, and
• An alumni networking event
Undergraduate specific opportunities include:
• “Life in Grad School” and “Grad School Applications” panels with current University of Michigan graduate students
• A CV workshop where undergrads can get one-on-one or small group feedback on their resume to help them prepare for graduate school
• An undergraduate research poster session, where undergraduates can present their research and get feedback from “judges” attending the event (note: feedback forms are provided but no awards are given.)
This year we are happy to have been able to provide travel support for undergraduates from midwestern PUI’s traveling to Ann Arbor for this event, thanks to funding from Corteva Agriscience!
