Launched in 2024, this annual event is co-organized with the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority and showcases river-related educational and career opportunities to young adults who have participated in the Detroit River Schooner Program and other river-themed activities.
Students hear from experts from over thirty organizations on how to build a successful and rewarding career, whether they are interested in science, public policy, cultural heritage, natural resources, or maritime trades. Check out some of the apprenticeship, internship, and full-time job opportunities that were offered at this year’s expo.

At the third annual Detroit River Youth Career Expo last weekend, there was a special program featuring conversations with four notable “river people” from Detroit, who shared with students stories about both their work and their local communities’ relationships—past, present, and future—with the River.
