EBIS

The Nadelhoffer Lab managed the deployment of isotopically enriched litter for the Enriched Background Isotope Study (EBIS) at the UM Biological Station.  Paul Hanson at Oak Ridge National Lab is the lead principal investigator for the EBIS.  See the main EBIS site for overall project details.  Briefly, EBIS quantifies organic carbon flux from litter sources to mineral-soil sinks with an enriched isotope study across five eastern hardwood forests.  The five sites are located in the AmeriFlux network and covering a range of climatic, edaphic, and biological conditions. We applied 14C enriched litter in fall 2007 and tracked it’s movement down the soil profile through 2011.
