Current CBI trainee Kira Holton (Chase Weidmann lab) won a Poster Excellence Award at the recent Rustbelt RNA Meeting. This annual regional scientific meeting gathers RNA researchers working in the biomedical field from thoughout the Midwestern and Mid-Atlantic states. Nicely done Kira!
CBI trainees met at the beginning of the fall 2023 semester to get to know each other and to discuss the scientific and professional training that would be most helpful to acquire during our 2023-2024 monthly meetings. Senior CBI trainee Maribel Okiye represented CBI at the Fall 2023 NOBCChE meeting in New Orleans and won the Winifred Burks-Houch Graduate Leadership Award! This award honors the first female president of NOBCChE and is well-deserved by Maribel!
Catherine Demery-Poulos (Traynor Lab) recently presented a poster at the International Narcotics Research Conference in Atlanta, GA. The work involves an in vitro and in vivo comparison of morphine, fentanyl, and furanylfentanyl, an illicit fentanyl analog commonly detected in fatal overdoses.
