Bekah Stein received a library grant to fund a program that instates regular demonstrations and activities led by the UM EES department in Ypsilanti Community High School Earth Science classes.
Congratulations to Katy Rico! She won an award for her oral presentation on Middle Island Sinkhole/Lake Huron metal and microbe biogeochemistry at SACNAS 2018.
Both Bec/kahs hit the road again this August – Becca Dzombak headed to Iceland to sample young soils on very new volcanic surfaces, while Bekah Stein traveled in the four-corner states, collecting leaves and O-horizon soil samples from Populus tremuloides groves on along an elevation and climate transect. On May 17, the University of Michigan’s Board of Regents approved Dr. Nathan Sheldon’s promotion to full professor!
