Visit the GROE with I2A 2025 sign-up page and complete the sign-up form to reserve your spot!
The early action sign up deadline is May 1st, 2025! We encourage you to sign up early to reserve your spot.
For 2024, students had until May 15th before the final sign up closed. However, space is limited, so if students did sign up after May 1st, their participation was contingent on how many students signed up by the May 1st early action deadline.
If you sign up and we are at capacity at the time, students can choose to be added to a waitlist in case any other students withdraw their participation. Confirmed students had until May 31st to withdraw from GROE with I2A.
An I2A staff member will reach out via email to confirm your participation in the program. Students and families will then have two weeks from the confirmation email to submit required forms. Please check your email regularly to receive your confirmation and turn in required forms!
GROE with I2A might be the perfect fit for you! You’ll explore different post-high school pathways and prepare yourself for the opportunities available to you.
Definitely not! GROE with I2A welcomes students who are considering trade or technical schools, community colleges, or other four-year colleges and universities. We also welcome students who are unsure about what they want to do after high school. Wherever you are with your plans for after high school, GROE with I2A has something for you!
Students who commit to participate in GROE with I2A must fully participate in all parts of the program. This includes attending one mandatory virtual meeting, taking one virtual mini course (not for academic credit) for three weeks, attending a weekend-long overnight campus visit at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and presenting at a virtual student showcase. Please check the important dates and mark your calendars to make sure you’re available for all required events!
GROE with I2A is a fully integrated program that is meant to be experienced as a whole. If you cannot commit to the full program, you can explore other opportunities at the University of Michigan’s YouthHub.
Yes! All expenses for the program are covered by the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (transportation, food, and lodging included). Students are also welcome to bring money for personal spending.
The virtual mini courses will take place on Zoom. To participate in the virtual mini courses, we will require a laptop, internet connection, an email address, and phone number to reach students. We recommend picking a quiet place that is conducive to learning and participating. Learn more about low-cost internet options for Michigan residents.
Yes! Transportation will be provided to and from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. We will designate one pick up spot in each region (Negaunee, Flint, Grand Rapids, Shiawassee County, Lansing, Ypsilanti, and Detroit), and students will be responsible for their own transportation to their designated pick up spot. Stay tuned for transportation details coming soon! Students will either be driven via charter bus, mini bus, or University of Michigan vehicle.
Parents and guardians cannot participate in the campus visit. There will be Intend to Attend (I2A) staff and student Ambassadors who will chaperone students for the duration of the overnight campus visit. I2A staff will provide overnight supervision in the residence hall for participating students.
Students will be chaperoned by I2A staff and student Ambassadors. Each chaperone has completed Children on Campus training and will stay overnight in West Quadrangle with GROE with I2A students. We are invested in creating a positive environment that promotes the health, safety, and well-being of GROE with I2A participants
All students will share a room with another GROE with I2A student for the overnight campus visit. Once students confirm their participation, we will follow up with a form to submit your roommate preferences. While we cannot guarantee that everyone will be assigned their roommate preferences, we will do the best we can! If you do not have a roommate preference, we will assign you a roommate.
We recommend students bring their own toiletries (toothbrush and toothpaste, soap and shampoo, etc.). I2A provides linens (XL sheet set/1 standard pillow + pillow case/1 twin top sheet/towel/washcloth), but students can bring any other linens they’d like to feel most comfortable. Confirmed GROE with I2A students will receive a detailed list of suggested items to bring for the campus visit.
Yes! Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided in a campus dining hall. We will ask students to share any allergies or dietary restrictions they have when they confirm their participation in GROE with I2A.
All GROE with I2A students will be back in their rooms by 11pm each night.
Yes, students will get WiFi access in all campus buildings including the residence and dining hall.
Yes. However, since that arrangement is out of the scope of our program, GROE with I2A would not be responsible for the student while in the care of the visitor. A parent or guardian will need to sign and submit a form beforehand to indicate the days and times that the student will be in the care of the visitor. If you would like to receive this form, please email intend2attend@umich.edu.
Students must arrive to the campus visit on the provided GROE with I2A transportation.
Parents/guardians have the option to pick up their student after the campus visit if they choose. However, parents/guardians need to notify the I2A team if they plan on picking up their own student by June 1st. Please email intend2attend@umich.edu if you will provide your own transportation after the campus visit.
The University of Michigan no longer requires proof of vaccination for COVID-19 for visitors to stay on campus. Face masks are also not required to be worn on campus, but a student may choose to wear a face mask if they prefer.
The infected attendee would be required to use campus isolation housing or move off campus to a hotel or alternate place of stay. If the attendee wishes, they may also leave the campus entirely with a parent or guardian and head home if the program ends before isolation time is finished. If the program continues after an individual’s isolation period has ended, the attendee may rejoin the program including move back into on-campus housing.
You can attend a virtual info session or email us at intend2attend@umich.edu!
