Students in GROE with I2A will take one virtual mini course on Zoom for three weeks. These courses are ungraded and not for academic credit — they’re an opportunity to learn about majors and career options! Students are required to attend each mini course session on July 8th, 10th, 15th, 17th, 22nd, and 24th from 5pm-7pm.

Students must attend each mini course session from 5:00pm to 6:30pm. Students can also attend optional office hours with faculty immediately after from 6:30pm to 7:00pm. All course sessions must be attended in full (meaning students must be present from at least 5:00pm to 6:30pm) in order to attend the overnight campus visit.

Once students confirm their participation in GROE with I2A, they will select their course preferences. Stay tuned for mini course offerings coming soon! While preferences will be considered, we cannot guarantee that your first preference will be your assigned course.

If there is a special circumstance and/or emergency preventing a student from attending a scheduled mini course session, please reach out to the I2A team at Intend2Attend@umich.edu

Students will attend a weekend-long overnight campus visit at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor after completing their virtual mini course. Students from the Upper Peninsula will be on campus from July 31st-August 3rd. Students from Detroit, Grand Rapids, Ypsilanti, Lansing, Flint, and Shiawassee County will be on campus from August 1st-3rd.

Transportation, food, and lodging are provided for the overnight campus visit. Students will build community with current college students and professors, learn about options after high school (including different types of colleges, application requirements, financial aid, and more!), experience college student life, and pilot some of the digital tools developed by I2A!

Students will share a college dorm room at West Quadrangle residence hall with another GROE with I2A student of the same gender. Confirmed students will have the option to select a preferred roommate if they have one. See more details about the overnight campus visit on our FAQs page.

Transportation will be provided to and from the overnight campus visit. We will designate one pick up spot in each region (Negaunee, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Flint, Shiawassee County, and Detroit), and students will be responsible for their own transportation to their designated pick up spot. Stay tuned for details!

Students will present what they have learned in small groups at a virtual showcase, which they will prepare for during the overnight campus visit. The showcase will take place on August 5th from 5:30pm-7:30pm to celebrate the end of the campus visit and hear about students’ experiences in GROE with I2A. Family, loved ones, and community partners are invited to attend. Stay tuned for the time and a zoom link for the the showcase!

After GROE with I2A, students can opt-in to receive free personalized college coaching from I2A Ambassadors throughout the fall. Coaching sessions will be held virtually and scheduled at dates and times that work best for each student.

Students have the opportunity to pilot two exciting digital tools built to assist students as they navigate college + career planning during and after GROE.

Lettersmith is a digital tool developed by the Center for Academic Innovation (CAI) to support high school students as they draft, revise, and write materials for their college and post-high school applications.

ECoach: I2A’s Tailored Messaging is a personalized, web‐based coaching tool developed by the Center for Academic Innovation (CAI) that delivers tailored content to students. Using surveys and questionnaires, ECoach is able to deliver personalized messages to students with resources, to-do lists, and reminders for important dates—tailored just for you!

GROE with I2A students commit to participating in all parts of the program.
