Professor Lydia Bieri has been elected as a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS). The number of APS Fellows elected each year is limited to no more than one half of one percent of the membership. It is a prestigious recognition by her peers of her outstanding contributions to physics. The citation on her certificate will state: “For fundamental results on global existence of solutions of the Einstein field equations, and for many contributions to the understanding of gravitational wave memory.”
